(Bill Marriott): This is my 75th Christmas. I thought about Christmas as I was thinking about the season this year, and I have spent every Christmas in Washington, D.C. I came home from college for Christmas, I got home on leave from the Navy for Christmas and I have been fortunate to spend every Christmas at home. How lucky I have been.
Christmas in our family is all about being together with the family. And for every single Christmas I was either with my parents and Donna or with our children and Donna and it's been wonderful. The blessings of Christmas in our lives have been terrific.
(Donna Marriott): Well, you've just about covered it, but my favorite thing is when we all get together for Christmas Eve dinner. We just have a great time. And then on Christmas morning, in a tradition we took from Bill's folks, we go to each of the children's houses and see them with their Christmas things, which is a lot of fun, too.
(The Marriott Family): Happy holidays from the Marriotts!
(Bill Marriott): I'm Bill Marriott and thank you for helping me keep Marriott on the move.

I had a wonderful christmas gift from the Montreal Airport Courtyard: On December 2 2007 I left my car at this hotel's outdoor parking lot for a 2 week trip to Florida which turned out to be a 3 week trip due to the snowstorms that occurred during that time. As I arrived back from my trip on Dec 24, I was bracing myself for what I would see: my car turned into a huge a frozen solid snowball that I would have to dig out from under the ice. Well imagine my delight when I see my car completely clean and shiny as if it just gotten out of the carwash, courtesy, of course, of the Courtyard's staff!!! No words can express my gratitude for such a unique touch! I only wish I could find out the name of the person(s) responsible for suck kindness. Thank you Marriott! you never, ever let me down!

Mr. Marriott: I want to thank you for the standards by which you keep and demand of your many properties. I have been platinum member for several years, hoping to achieve a Lifetime Platinum level if that exists, and my loyalty remains with your company. I would like to suggest one thing as a reward for others like myself....the lobbies of your properties should allow for an open access to the internet without being a registered guest. Often I am traveling between cities and will come across a Marriott and want to check my email, etc before checking into another Courtyard or Springhill at my destination. Some properties allow for access, some don't have access, and some won't grant access unless you are registered. As a platinum member...this privilege would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards and Happy Holidays.

Hello Mr. Marriott,
I wanted to drop a note and tell you about the incredible experience my family had over Christmas at the Oklahoma City Bricktown Residence Inn. Our family had been searching for a location to spend Christmas this year that was centrally located for all our girls and their families...same old story for many families across the world. Then I thought about my Marriott reward points and surprised the family a stay at the OKC Residence Inn. Upon our arrival, I told the night manager about our desire to have our 2 suites as close as possible and inquired about the availability of a two-bedroom so that we could have snacks as we visited. Mr. ****** then went to work and called me a very few hours with the 2 bedroom which would be available the next day. We were thrilled!
On the surface I'm sure this sounds like just another example of good customer service, but to us it was far more...you see, this was the first Christmas our entire family had the chance to be all together under one roof in over 3 years as one of our daughters has spent the last 3 Holidays in the hospital battling a blood disease which has left us very scattered as we all attempted to be with her and also with other members of our family.
As I told your manager, my husband and I are gold members at Hilton and Holiday Inns and a silver with Marriott and we have never been treated so kindly as we were at his location.
I think the most important part of this is that we never told the night manager about the importance of this Christmas to our family---he thought he was just spreading some Christmas tidings.
How lucky you are to have such wonderful employees!
Have a wonderful New Year and May God Bless!
p.s. we're already saving our points for next year!

Happy New Year from my very grateful family ---- grateful to your wonderful family of Marriott associates several of whom turned my family's Christmas Eve travelling disaster into a wonderful Christmas Day.
My son and family very nearly found themselves stuck in Denver due to mis-communication and bungling by an airline that shall remain nameless.
Suffice to say that your marvelous associates at the Platinum reservation center and Marriott Rewards (late on Christmas Eve no less) bailed out the situation by making a backup reservation at one of your Denver airport hotels --- just in case my kids would get stuck in Denver.
As events unfolded, the reservation was not needed and was cancelled without any penalty.
Meantime, the kindness of your associates allowed us to be assured that my kids and grandkids would have accomodaitons if needed.
Thanks for helping make our christmas merry!

Thank you for having hospitable facilities. I have always enjoyed them in my travels across this country of ours. But, it always bothers me when I ask about a Military Discount and I get a qoute that is INFLATED above my AAA rate or the average travelers rate. It is as if the hotel has added the per diem into the amount for military members (whether we are on vacation or leisure travel). I have spent 3 tours in the Middle-East (Iraq) as recent as last year (as a Combat Medic). I have stayed in a couple of Marriott's since I've been back. Also, a Hilton , and some other major hotel chain only because I got a better rate there. I do shop around (more than before) because my money has to work harder for me than I for it.
We in the military have come to interpret the true meaning of Support Our Troops as: a heart-felt but hollow slogan. Especially, when it comes to major businesses (as long as it doesn't affect their Bottom Line). Military folks really don't expect anything special and usually don't ask for anything. That is the sad truth. It seems; those that have sacrificed much - truly receive the least from our business community. I don't expect anything to come of this email to you, and I will continue to support your multi-million dollar empire as long as it is cost effective for me.
Thank you for your time reading this comment.

Hi, Bill. Thanks for your Christmas wishes! Unfortunately, someone at your company decided that Christmas was a great time to start sending me unsolicited emails about your marketing promotions. Hypocritically, neither the marriott.com website nor the email they sent out has an email address to reply: you don't like spam in your inbox either, apparently. So while they think it's okay for their computer to automatically start sending me advertisements with no human effort on their part, they expect me to personally take the time to tell them *not* to send me unsolicited ads. That's not cool.
I note that even your blog has a security check so that the human who sorts through comments doesn't have to take time out to respond to things sent automatically by computers. So why do you think it's okay to expect me to take time to respond to your automatically sent message?

Merry Christmas from all in Ireland.
My Daughter is working in the Marriott Green Community Dubai and will not be home this Christmas ( the first she has ever missed!) however i dont think she would change it as everyone is making such an effort to get into the season not only for the guests but for each other as well!

Thanks for the nice Christmas message Bill. I wish all of your family and your customers a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2008. I will be staying at a few of your hotels in Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City for the New Year holidays. I look forward to stay (as always). Please continue to keep your hotels as nice as they are, and never forget to price them for the common working American who are the backbone of our great country. I wish you another 75 years of a Merry Christmas in D.C.. Your customer and friend, GV.

Thanks Bill. You are correct in that quality family time during the holidays is the most important time of the year. I missed only two Christmases in my Navy career (21 years - Retired Navy Supply Corps). This is my son's first Christmas at home after joining the Navy this past summer. What a wonderful experience to have him home for the holidays.
Merry Christmas! HoHoHo

Thank you for keeping Christmas in your life and others. What wonderful memories I am sure you could share, always being at home. Thank you for not calling this special time of year just another holiday! Merry Christmas.

I have really appreciated the Christmas decorations when I have to travel with work, because if I can't be hometo enjoy ours, entering or sitting in the lobby to enjoy yours is the next best thing. Thank you.

You have been blessed. Last year we were on our way home to Castle Rock, CO from Des Moines, IA where we had picked up our daughter from college. When we reached Kearney, Nebraska, my husband was very ill and had to be taken to the emergency room. It was Christmas Eve. We ended up spending three days over Christmas at the Fairfield Inn in Kearney. The people there were wonderful, helping me heat up chicken broth, etc., and changing bedding and things over the holiday. We have been stopping at that Fairfield at least twice a year for the last four years, and previously while traveling to visit friends and relatives in Iowa. I can't say enough for the staff at the Kearney Fairfield Inn. They helped to make a miserable Christmas bearable.

I agree with the previous Comment, you are truely Blessed. I once in a while stop by one of your Marriott Hotels and speak with some of the crew that I use to work with. They only have the highest praise for your son John, who sometimes visits. They say he is a class act. Congratulations. May you have many more Wonderful Christmas's.

Bill ~ This was really very nice of you to do with your lovely family. I have been a proud Marriott customer for about 25 years now. I also own a week at the Desert Springs Marriott Resort (phase one many years ago now) not long after they opened. The Marriott brand has always been high on MY personal list of corporations whose name is synonymous with quality! MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your wonderful family too! ~ jb///

Thank you for sharing your Christmas traditions. We just returned from 5 days at the Marriott Suites on Sand Key in Florida. This is one of you favorite places (I think this was our 4th or 5th consecutive trip there)...The staff is wonderful.
Merry Christmas!
