Almost everyone is feeling the effects of the current economic climate, but at Marriott we want to do everything we can to help you get away and travel. For starters, travel is good for business. But I also believe vacations and trips are a wonderful way to revive yourself during tough times and reconnect with friends and family.
That's why I'm thrilled to tell you about Marriott's newest travel promotion, The Global Rate Break. Starting today, you can book a weekend stay at more than 2,500 of our participating hotels around the world for 20% off! To see if it is available, visit www.marriott.com and use promotional code F5X. You must book before June 2nd for weekend stays between the dates of May 21 and September 7, 2009. In the Middle East and Africa and select resorts, the rate is available every day of the week.
We took our Flip Camera around and asked people where they would want go anywhere in the world, so I know that people really do want to get away. I'd love to hear what your summer travel plans are so please leave a comment and share them with me.
I'm Bill Marriott and thanks for helping me keep Marriott on the move.
Take Advantage of The Global Rate Break from Marriott

The Global Rate Break is a good idea but not a great one. In July 2009 I plan to travel by car from Toronto to Vancouver and I will be travelling south of the border because there are not enough Marriott affiliated hotels between these two great cities of Canada.

Frozen Meals with Marriott Signature
Dear Mr. Marriott
All Marriott Hotels offer Microwaves and Frigobar to their guests. Why not to offer something like Frozen meals with Marriott Signature. I'm sure it would sell very well, and no other hotel chain can copy it.

Bill,
As a Platinum guest of both Marriott and Starwood, I might make a suggestion.
Instead of teasing us with rate cuts on weekends, why do you allow properties to gouge us on Internet Access Fees at your most expensive line of properties?
Starwood has realized that the guest who spends over 100 nights in hotel properties does not want to spend over a thousand dollars a year in using the Internet while staying at your high end properties.
As a Platinum member, Starwood always waives Internet access fees (perhaps not in writing or in print) but Marriott properties are on you must argue enough basis to be exempted.
Is this what you consider hospitality?

Dear Mr. Marriott, I agree with your ideas of offering new programs and packages to potential guests in this economic crisis. I always learn something new from you and your company. I don't know the details of your plan yet. I will look over those things for pleasure. It's gonna help me to be a better, prudent, and skilled manager in hotel for my future.

Dear Mr. Marriott,
I perfectly agree. Each and every one of us has to take some time off every now and then. But then if I were a tourist in search of this special exotic place that would greatly help me change weather and leave within me splendid lasting memories when I head home, I would search for a geographic region with abundant places and sights to see. Indeed tourism is a vital part in every country's agenda and great money is spent on maintaining as much as possible the available ruins and tourism facilities. There are many beautiful countries in our globe. But in my country tourism is a main sector in the economy for one very important factor. Every single quarter and inch of ground in Jordan is witness to precious Biblical and historical events that are as old as the eons of antiquity. 3 Marriott Hotels are wisely dispersed either nearby or at the following mentioned sites making tourist pilgrimages to the entire tourism sites of Jordan possible while enjoying their splendid hospitality services. The southern city of Aqaba that embraces the ceaseless waves of the Red Sea with its fantastic summer beaches and first class hotels is every beach lovers dream. Petra, one of the seven wonders of our world, proudly meets the tourism seeker with its fine hospitality accommodations as we go towards the central area of the Kingdom; a full city carved within the rose rock mountains. It's for the seekers to find out how this was possible when they tread it's superbly old grounds. Just a little bit up towards the center of our beloved Kingdom is an awe-inspiring divine piece of wonder. The Dead Sea is the lowest land altitude on earth and the work of our Lord himself when he punished the dwellers of Sodom and Gomorrah with his wrath thousands of years ago. The result was a land depression that is approximately 400 meters below sea level with a superbly salted sea. The Dead Sea is blessed now days with first class hotels and every possible facility to make any person's pilgrimage through these lands a cruise of comfort. I proudly announce that this area hosts the World Economic Forum periodically due to its accessibility and exquisite hospitality services. The traveler is also not far away from the bountiful ancient sites of Mount Nebo, which provides a breath taking view of Palestine, where Prophet Moses stood forbidden by God to enter the promised lands. Nearby Mukawir, the site of Machaerus, is where Salome danced in exchange for the head of John the Baptist. Lying peacefully there is the fortress of Herod the Great at an elevation of 2295 feet overlooking the Dead Sea. At the northern districts rests the echoes of the mighty empires of ancient Rome. Jerash hosts entire Roman ruins and cities that are miraculously still in handsome condition. Um Qais further up north tells similar stories of the Acropolis (Fortress) with its exquisite view of the Sea of Galilee, the Yarmouk River and Syrian Golan Heights. Its' Basilica of Gadara and its mighty pillars are another part of the story. Still sandwiched between the areas mentioned are scores of sites that are truly worthwhile seeing including splendid ancient Islamic fortresses built during the Crusade era and the Mamluk Islamic era. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a country where truly its exotic past embraces its peaceful present everyday.

This is a money saving promotion but if you already booked the rate online that is non refundable or cannot make changes to you feel cheated. I've asked several Marriott phone Reps if they can give me that rate on the existing date and reservation (you have a lowest price guarantee also) but they won't help. I don't book through a third party but I feel like I did.
Beside the promo rate being lower, it does not lock you into a no refund. changes contract.
Again I am going to feel screwed during my stay.

Mr. Marriott, I'm not yet sure of my summer plans yet - but I am sure I'll be staying at some Marriott properties wherever I go.
That is nice that you've got a couple of specials going on, but I hope people realize that the regular rates, in most cases, are fair value for money and should not be overlooked. In the hotel industry, specials generally do not happen during the week and it is important to patronize your preferred brands whenever you can. Hotels are a business and the only thing that makes sure a hotel is still there for you when you need it is people staying in them. We are in a time of a troubled economy, and it is not only a time when hotel chains offer some specials, but the customers who have been treated well in the past should use this time especially to repay the favour by showing some loyalty in return. It is a two way street out there.

I am trying to book a room at a Participating Marriott, but every time I enter this promo code I am told no rooms are available. When I delete the promo code- rooms are magically available at the non-promo price. Whats going on?

I just tried to book a reservation online with the 20% Global Rate Break and was told my hotel of choice was not available. A few days ago I tried to book the same hotel with the $50 gift card offer and again was told it was not available. But when I booked it without the promos, the hotel was available. To date I have never been able to use your so-called offers. I believe they are unfair advertising and a joke. We always try to stay at Residence Inn. Most recent stay was a couple of weeks ago at Lake Buena Vista. I would prefer that you don't offer anything than being teased with deceitful promotions. I dare you to post this comment.

The Global Rate Break is a good idea but not a great one. In July 2009 I plan to travel by car from Toronto to Vancouver and I will be travelling south of the border because there are not enough Marriott affiliated hotels between these two great cities of Canada.
Your Global Rate Break is only for weekends and the other deal is for one free night but for three consecutive stays at the same hotel. As a Marriott Rewards member and timeshare owner of Grand Chateau Las Vegas, I was planning to stay all the way in the Marriott chains along the road in all the Northern States between Michigan and Washington States, but there is no bonus/incentive for me doing this. So depending of better rates from your competitor, I may be force to choose them over Marriott's. Yet I would like to stay loyal to the Marriott brand. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Dear Mr. Marriott:
I wanted to personally thank you for the consistent and superb, customer service I am receiving and have received in the past from the staffs of your Marriott properties.
My husband, Joe, became a Platinum Elite member several years ago because of extensive business travel. Because of the economy this past year, he did not achieve Platinum Elite status during 2009. However, your organization generously continued his Platinum status for another year. Because of that gesture, I do all in my power to use Marriott properties whether I travel for business or pleasure.
However, that's not the end of my heartfelt thanks. I am on the Board of Directors for IRIS. IRIS is a non-profit world-wide association of redesigners and stagers. If you are familiar with HGTV, you will understand the term. If not, feel free to visit the IRIS website as www.weredesignandstage.com to learn more. I just returned from the Denver West Marriott, where we will be holding our 10th Annual IRIS Conference and Expo, September 24-26. We chose that property not only because of the quality of the facility but because of the quick, professional and courteous treatment we received by your sales staff.
We try to hold our annual conference in different regions of the country for the benefit of our members and while planning this year's meeting in Denver, started discussing the 2010 Conference. It is tentatively planned for September 2010. All members of IRIS are small business entrepreneurs. Many of our businesses are struggling to stay open so it is important that our conference boosts the opportunities for our members. Having the event in facilities that caters to our members needs is as important and your Marriott employees do not disappoint our expectations.
Because of your companies gesture to continue Platinum Elite status to my husband for another year I have continued to use Marriott properties for pleasure and business. Also because of that gesture it helped secure the Denver West Marriott for the 2009 IRIS Conference and Expo. Because of your companies gesture to continue Platinum Elite status to my husband for another year, I have already contacted several of your properties in your neck of the woods, the Washington/Baltimore area to hold our 11th annual IRIS Conference and Expo. I have not been disappointed. I immediately heard back from your sales staff at the properties I contacted in hopes of satisfying our meeting needs.
Please thank your corporate sales and marketing department that decided on the promotion to extend membership levels for Marriott Rewards during these trying financial times. You now know, for sure, at least in one particular case, it worked! I am a loyal customer working to recruit other loyal customers!
Sincerely,
Renee Pratta

I'm a retired Marriott associate and continue to stay in Marriott properties even though I'm not in the 25 year club. Why? we don't like surprises!!! I recently had to stay in a non-Marriott property and it was beautiful - but - the one distinguishing factor was the service was not as good. Continue with your message of 'service to the customer' as it does make the difference!

Hi Bill, In the last 2 weeks I have the privilage of staying at 2 brand new Marriott Hotels. The first was in Omaha Nebraska. The Marriott Courtyard, I showed up without a reservation at 5 pm on opening day. A few small glitches as everyone was still learning their jobs. However, the 'Can Do' attitude was there and that's what counts! This week I am in Paris France at the new Renaissance hotel, a fantastic place close to the Arc de Triumph. Once again a new building with a few teething problems, but the staff has the Marriott Can Do attitude. That is why I am a fan of the Marriott brand. Thanks for hiring the best! They truley represent the best in customer service!
