Incredible India

November 2, 2011

India is truly an incredible country.  There’s something old and something new everywhere you turn.  It’s experiencing tremendous growth and our hotels are right in the middle of it.

Most people’s impressions of India are not nearly as up to date as the changes taking place there.  They may have been formed in school while watching a long, boring documentary.

In an attempt to dispel some myths and stereotypes, our Indian associates took to the streets and produced their own mini-documentaries.  The things they do and the places they go … well, let’s just say they know where to have fun.

This “local knowledge” is important to our guests.  After checking in, guests want to know the top restaurant or the best yoga class.

So meet our talented, knowledgeable local hotel associates as they take you on a tour across the country to see their new India.  You’ll learn why the country’s tourism slogan fits:  “Incredible India.”

Click on the links below to view the grand openings of our newest hotels –Pune Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre and the Marriott Jaipur Hotel.  We’ll have many more hotel openings in the next few years.

Leave a comment.  I’d like to hear about your favorite India video or destination.

I’m Bill Marriott and thanks for helping me keep Marriott on the Move.

India is very unique country where all religion person are live together.

Great Video! I absolutely love India. Thank you for sharing! I recommend this hotel to everyone. Great place to stay!

I enjoyed watching these videos.they are truly mesmerizing.

Dear Mr. Marriott,

During the month of November, my brother and I faced the worst tragedy of our lives in Plano, Texas. You cannot begin to imagine the enormous blessing it was to be embraced with great compassion, cheerful encouragement, and genuine support from Wayne, Zack, Adriean, Magan, Ashley, and Elizabeth at the Dallas Plano Parkway Courtyard Marriott.

These individuals learned of our situation and for two solid weeks their smiling faces and their compassion and cheerful support helped both of us through what was the worst time in our family's life. We were two people far from home facing the hardest tragedy our family has had to undergo. We had no family or friends within miles, but Wayne, Elizabeth, Zack, Adriean, Ashley, and Magan became our family. We never felt alone.

Thank you for that amazing team. I hope you reward them; they made a huge difference in our lives. Giving such great gifts of kindness at the worst moment in our lives means that they, and Courtyard Marriott, will have a place in our hearts forever.

My brother and I would like very much to know where we might send a personal, more official, letter of commendation to you about your team in Plano. Can you please let me know how to do that? I feel awkward having to write this in a blog.

Thank you.

Dear Mr. Marriott,

The videos on India are stunning.

But, how are you coping with declining standards at Marriott properties?

I live in Goa and have been a Marriott Preferred member for four years. I have seen a distinct decline at the Marriott Goa Resort over the past year and a half. The hotel, after an expensive renovation, just does not have the same charm and service one is used to at a Marriott brand. The food is pathetic.

The Courtyard at Gurgaon could well be renamed "Curtyard"!

Regards,

Subeer Verma

Great videos, informative and helpful. Me and my wife are planning on visiting India and this really helps a lot. Thank you

Thank you for your post. really good news so thanks for sharing I would like to go in the near future...

Wow. Do these Marriot employees also do personal tours. I want them to take me to eat and dance and buys saris at all these places. I've been wanting to visit India for years but have been hesitant, now I feel it's certainly can-do, at least if I'm at Mariott. Hopefully in 2012!

Our company does business in India, but I have never been that interested in going there until now. Thank you for spending the time and energy making these videos. I look forward to the next opportunity I have to travel over there. Also, your hotels look spot on.

Love all things east Indian (Chris Columbus really caused a whole lot of confusion there--should have called him Wrong Way Columbus): the movies, the music, the food; and the video is a treasure. Also love all things Marriott! In 2010 I spent a few days at the Courtyard in Spokane,WA with some really old sorority sisters, and your people were MORE THAN accommodating. So, the video was informative, beautiful, enchanting, lively, colorful...well, you get the idea!! Looking forward to scheduling another get-away with the sisters, but this time a little farther away from So. CA than Spokane.

Great video, very informative

I want to go to Pune. Birthplace of yoga? I'm in. Seriously, I've never been to India, but it's been rising on my list and this is helping to tip it. Thanks.

This comment is for poster V. Lawson.... Please email me on matthew.cooper@marriott.com and I will assist you to plan your trip to Incredible India. We have 15 hotels in amazing destinations across the country and we are waiting to look after you.

These videos are very informative. I'm planning a trip to Jaipur and your property there looks great.

Loved the videos! I watched them all in succession because they are so engaging. I am not sure which was more entertaining -- the cities or the personalities!

Wow. I've never wanted to travel more! This is much more exciting than any guide book. Using the local staff for travel recomendations is Brillant.
Way to go Marriott!

Dear Mr. Marriott,

Thank you for posting these amazing videos of your hotels and the surrounding areas in India. They gave me a refreshing perspective on the 'new' India, and really made me feel like the Marriott hotels and staff could make visiting India an amazing experience!

wow didn't know half of that stuff about India, was not planning a trip there, but now I might. glad people make stuff like this just showing off the culture and the staff looks like they like what they do.

This video is like "Bend it like Beckham"; "Sex in the City" and all this fabulousness gets me pumped up to get over there...Thanks Marriott!

India has always been on my list of "must-visit" destinations and Pune looks like a great area. The Pune Marriott property looks impressive and their staff knowledgeable...something that's very important to me when I'm traveling abroad.

I've always wanted to visit India. Watching the video, it occurred to me that I would heavily depend on my hotel to help navigate and facilitate my visit. Does Marriott have any specials in India?

These are delightful! They make me want to hop on a plane to India right now, and it has never been one of the destinations on the top of my list. Now I am curious. The humor and humanity in these videos really set them off from anything I've seen before. The people look like they love their jobs, like each other, and are proud of their cities. Like I said, it makes me want to jump on a plane and join in the fun...

As an Elite Rewards member, I've stayed in the best Marriotts all over the planet. I plan to visit India in the coming year and was thrilled to have been given a glimpse of the energy of the area and the Marriott staff. Your presentation was entertaining and enlightening. High marks for these excellent videos!!

What delightful and informative series of videos! Thank you!

People I know who have visited India have always talked about what a warm welcome they received from the people. These videos really highlight that--it's great to see the "local area knowledge" through the eyes of those who know and love it best.
